Simple Habits for Fantastic Effect

Asalamu’alaikum Wr. Wb.
Good Afternoon
First of all, I would like to say thanks to Allah the Almighty for giving me the opportunity to come here and to deliver my speech in this contest. And I’m so grateful to the committee of this contest and for all of my friends for your coming here, Thank you.
And before, allow me to introduce my self. My name is Sari Ramadhani and I’m from Health Polytechnic of East Kalimantan. And for this contest today, I would like to bring a theme about Healthy Behavior of Health Workers Candidates in Supporting Healthy Indonesia 2015 with the title “Simple Habits for Fantastic Effect”
As we know that Healthy Indonesia 2010 is a target that planned in 1999 and the fact now it failed . Yes, maybe it’s not really a failure, but exactly it was delayed. It’s not important to fault each other who should responsibility in this case. All of us must evaluate this problem and give a big questions to our self, What can I do now to supporting Healthy Indonesia in the future??!
Okay! Health, is a complex problem and need the commitment and cooperation from various sectors; individual, public and government. So, if just the government do many efforts without the community awareness to care their health personally, I think it’s impossible to reach Healthy Indonesia in the future. And Of course, Healthy Indonesia 2010, 2015 or 2020 and etc, it just a slogan that will be lost by time.
Healthy will be presented from the healthy and clean behavior that began from the individual, especially the health workers. Maybe we think we care enough to promote the healthy behavior to the people around us. But then, It’s useless.
WHY? Sure, because we talk more and do less.
Sometimes, we proudly campaign healthy behavior to all people. But for our self, when we are in the car, when on the motorcycle, no body look at us and no body know us, when we have a trash, Plug! We throw it everywhere we like. It’s a shame of course, especially for us, as a candidates of Health Workers.
We must campaign the healthy lifestyle to the public just not by our mind, just not by our voice but the most important is from our behavior. We must do real action. The public need the pioneer around them to begin their healthy behavior. And that pioneers are us.
So, what kind of healthy behavior that must we do? The first, look at your body, and Have you had the healthy weight? It’s important to have healthy weight with Body mass index (BMI) less than 30. Obesity is a factor of many disease like Diabetes, high blood pressure and heart attack. We can combining physical activity with a reduced fat and calorie diet.
We can do simple exercise minimal 3.5 hours a day, like walking or jogging . And Of course we’re so familiar with a program walk 10000 steps per day that equals with about 2.5 km. Beside it, we can follow healthy diet and prevent cancer with increasing fruit and vegetable consumption and avoid many kind of junk food. And also, we must consistent drinking water until 8 glasses a day because it’s so crusial for our health.
And maybe, we almost forget with this important simple habit. What is it? Yeah, It’s Hand Washing. We must remember that hand washing with water only is not enough, so washing your hand with soap about 40-60 seconds. Hand washing with soap could prevent diseases that can cause millions of children deaths every year. And in our workplace, like hospital, hand washing will decrease the nosocomial infection rates.
And the last, Don’t forget to smile, because smile is one of simple healthy behavior with Marvelous benefits. It has positive effect both in psychology and health. In fact, by smiling, Endorphins and serotonin will be released. Endorphin is natural pain killers and with Serotonin make us feel good. Yeah, smiling is natural drug. Furthermore, Smiling can relieves stress, boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure and makes you look younger.
Here, I’ll invite you also to realize that “TALK” is so easy, but so difficult to do in the real action. So that, Let’s start the healthy behavior from our self, from simple thing and from now to reach Healthy Indonesia 2015.
For the conclusion, I want all of you to always remember and do 4 W’s as your healthy habits, W W W and W. First W for Walking 10000 steps per day, Second W for Water in 8 glasses per day, Third W for Washing your hand with soap and the last W for Wonderful Smile to the people around you.
I thinks that’s all for my speech today. Keep fighting and Keep smiling and I believe that Healthy Indonesia will be there in your eyes as soon as our efforts. Thanks for the attention. Wassalamu’alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.
