Good Afternoon
First of all, I would like to say thanks to Allah the Almighty for giving me the opportunity to come here and to deliver my speech in this contest. And I’m so grateful to the committee of this contest and all of my friends for your coming here, Thank you.
And before, allow me to introduce my self. My name is Sari Ramadhani and I’m from Health Analyst, especially to representative all of my friend in Regular Pemprov Class. And for this contest today, I would like to take a hot enough issue in our country about Contamination of Formula milk with the title “Breastfeeding for a Brilliance Generation”.
As we know that, recently, the mothers so afraid with an issue about contamination of Formula milk by Enterobacter Sakazakii. Many parents busy to search by internet, which one the kind of formula milk was contaminated. But now in my speech, I will not to discuss wathever about Enterobacter Sakazakii but here I’ll appeal all of you to leave formula milk and realize how the importance Breastfeeding for our baby.
I like to hear that some formula milk was contaminated. Why?! I’m not a bad woman Of course. But because that issue, It should make the mothers realize that formula milk is not a sterile product, no body can guarantee it. And however, mother should be know that baby should be breastfed exclusively for the first 6 month. Just it, and no other.
Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia is main market for industry of Formula Milk. So many advertisement about formula milk and then, the fact show that the percentage of Formula feeding is so higher than Breast feeding for year to year. And sure it’s so bad. Why can I say like that? Lets check it out!
The fact, that no formula can exactly duplicate the ideal composition of breast milk. Human milk is so unique, because each mother will product different milk for their babies. Furthermore, Breast milk is the food least likely to cause allergic reactions, it is inexpensive and it is readily available at the day or night, so practical!. And of course babies will accept the tastes readily. Even, the immunity factors in breast milk can help the baby fight off some infections. And Imagine, human milk also have antivirus and anticancer.
It’s so different from formula milk, because, beside it’s not as steril as we think, formulas will make baby more aggressive, obesity and easy to get sick. The other disadvantage of formulas are primarily their expense. We know that formula milk is so expensive, especially for 42% people of Indonesia with salary just Rp. 600.000,00 for a month.
The feeding is an important time of connection between mother and her baby. It’s good to build a close relation and make the baby have a basic trust by breastfeeding. Basic trust will help a baby to grow as a child with a self confidence and not aggressive.
Furthermore, breast milk can act alone to fulfill all of the baby’s nutrition needs in right composition. All of will balance, including the specific nutrition to support the growth and the development of baby’s brain. The research had been proven that babies who acquire breast milk will have the essential fatty acid’s concentration in body higher than baby who did not. This essential fatty acid is really good to supporting the brain development process. So that, experts agree that our babies will smarter by breastfeeding.
We must remember that from 1000 mothers, just one get a problem to breastfeeding. So that, no reason for mother to change breastmilk to formula milk. Some mother maybe afraid if their bodies get more fat by breastfeeding. But should be know that in the fact, by breastfeeding each day, the woman will lose weight as 500 calories or more.
And the last, Do you know that breastfeeding also can helps prevent cancer? Yes, exactly Breast Cancer. This is because by breastfeeding, estrogen’s level in womn’s body as a factor of cancer will be reduced.
So if our government will began seriously in this case with a Draft about Breastfeeding and the Rule of Advertisement Formula Milk in this year. Now, it’s our chance together to open all of mothers mind in Indonesia to give breastfed for their infant in the first 2 year, because “Breast Milk had been known and proven as the frst, the main and also the best food for baby”.
